Dalston’s curated fashion picks include artworks for Artweek

Dalston womenswear boutique is already a favourite in Grey Lynn. Now they are about to host artists’ works at their shop as part of Artweek Auckland, and Grey Lynn & Around’s Papatūānuku - Urban Flora and Fauna Trails.

Independent clothing label DALSTON was started in 2007 by Monique Jarvis and Jules Clark. They specially chose Grey Lynn for their brand and they make their own clothing range with a small talented and dedicated team. When you enter their shop you also find an eclectic range of designers from New Zealand, Denmark, Spain, Australia and the U.K, and all sorts of treasures from their own locally made masks, to perfumes, sunglasses, footwear and bags.

Dalston’s curation of labels reflect the principles of ethical production plus high design values, celebrating sustainability. As a Grey Lynn & Around member Dalston perfectly reflects the neighbourhood and the values at the heart of the Grey Lynn and around businesses and community - niche, creative, caring, vibrant, embracing diversity.

“We love Grey Lynn and what’s happening all around us here. It was easy to get involved and be part of Artweek 10–18 October,” say Monique and Jules.

“We are featuring several artist’s works that fit with our love for curating fashion picks. Anne Wilson’s paperworks are highly original, fitting the botanical themes of Papatūānuku. We love that she uses special natural papers sourced from all around the world.

Anne Wilson has been creating her art commercially for more than 11 years and these days is kept very busy collaborating with Restoration Hardware in USA to make original one off paperworks.

Photographer, Jenny Tomlin will exhibit her pinhole image here called 'Bangalow.' She has more works on show at other Grey Lynn & Around venues including Big Sur..
